Diwali (festival of lights) one of the biggest festivals celebrated in India and around the globe by Indian people. ISA@UT organized Diwali 2010 on 6th November which took place in bastile atrium of University of Twente. More than 160 people witnessed the show which was filled with lights, bollywood dance, mimicry show, presentation on India through the eyes of a Dutchie, Video showing the view of different people around the globe about India, Indian classical music, bollywood music, dandiya , Indian fashion show named " Paridhan" , DJ and last but not the least Indian delicious food. Special thanks to volunteers and all the participants for their hard work in making the event successful. Our special thanks to Anoop Ambooken for stopping the moment going away by capturing the emotions and happenings of the event.

Synagogue Visit

25th July 2010

Synagogue at Enschede is one of the important place not only for Jews but also for all resident of Enschede. It is a symbol of devotion, hard-work and struggle of the Jews. We are thankful to Synagogue's Esly van dan and Marlies Kruiper for their help in all arrangements for this visit. On the 25th July, our eversimling guide Mr. Evertjan Hanivoort was there to receive us. He is a retired Doctor and lives in Boekelo. He volunteered to help us as guide of this tour. Our tour started at 1:15 pm and lasted for approximately 1.5 hour. Mr. Hanivoort told us about service, Torah, building architecture, Jewish traditions, and much more. He explained us the importance of discussions in Jewish way of life. This aspect of Judaism was unknown to all of us. He explained even the meaning of the pictures, wall decorations, and the Hebrew writing with interesting stories. Since it was a Indian association tour, he told us about Indian Jews and their history, this made the tour more interesting. At the end of the tour, the Synagogue offered us nice coffee and tea. Finally, we would to thank Esly, Marlies , Mr. Hannivoort and all Synagogue workers for this memorable and wonderful visit.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving event was organized by ISA on May 31st 2010 at outdoor swimming pool at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. Total 17 person participated in the event.
